The Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) is partnering with Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation (GELF) to provide at-home reading resources to all Tennessee families of K–2 children at no cost (or free of charge). Through this partnership, GELF and TDOE want to encourage at-home reading practice to help young learners become stronger readers outside of the classroom.

Overton County Schools Partners with UCHRA for the week of May 8. District students can bring in nonperishable food items such as soups, canned goods, pasta, beans, sauces, and much more this week to their homeroom teachers. The goal is to fill the UCHRA pantry that help feed more than 20 families throughout our community. The classroom from each school that collects the most items will be rewarded with a Pizza Party! Contest ends on Friday, May 12.

Recently, Livingston Academy, TCAT of Livingston and Vol State Community College of Livingston partnered to host the 2nd annual Career Summit for all rising 9th grade district students.

Last month students and families from Hilham, Rickman, and Wilson Elementary Schools participated in a STEM event.

Students are out of school Friday through Monday for Easter. Students will return to school on Tuesday, April 11.

Overton County School System is currently completing applications for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program and the Lottery for Education Afterschool Programs (LEAPS) program. Please see the attached notices for more information.

Mike Johnson's SDC Plant Science Class helped to landscape the Central Office on Monday. We appreciate all of the efforts toward beautification of our local office building.
