Rising second-grade students took their learning outdoors during summer school with an exciting hands-on fossil dig activity. Working under the sun, students used small tools to carefully chip away at their dig blocks, uncovering real fossils hidden inside. The outdoor setting added to the fun as the young learners eagerly shared their discoveries and compared their findings.
The activity helped students understand how fossils form while giving them a chance to experience the process of scientific discovery firsthand. Along the way, they practiced patience, focus, and observation skills. By the end of the dig, each student had made their own unique discovery, turning a summer school day into a memorable adventure in science.
