Dear Overton County Schools Families,
We know the past two weeks have been incredibly challenging for our community. Families have experienced extended school closures, limited access to water, and disruptions to daily routines. Please know that the well-being of our students and families remains our top priority.
To help us reconnect with students and provide support, Overton County Schools will hold an Emergency Flex/Virtual Learning & Community Support Day.
On Monday, February 9, 2026, from 9:30-11:00 AM, all school campuses, except Livingston Academy, will have food, water, and virtual learning resources available for pickup. All high school students can pick up food if needed from their closest elementary school. All elementary and middle schools will be open for scheduled pickup times for families. Our focus for the Emergency Flex/Virtual Learning & Community Support Day is for students to:
Pick up learning packets for students
Receive grab-and-go meals
Receive bottled water for household use for all schools (while supplies last)
Buses will also run on a 2-hour late schedule to pick up bus riders. Students on buses will be able to get off the bus, go to each station set up at the school to pick up food and instructional packets, and then return to the bus to go back home. Cases of water will be loaded onto the bus for each household. Faculty members will ride on the buses to help students get items from the bus to the house.
This Virtual Learning Day is designed to be low-stress and flexible. Students will be asked to complete one or two simple review activities from their packet per day that we are out. No new instruction will be introduced, and work will be counted for completion only. Enough work will be given in case we have to have multiple virtual days. All teachers K-12 will be available by email during the school day timeframe.
We understand that every family’s situation is different. If you are unable to complete work each day, grace and flexibility will be extended.
Additional details about pickup times and procedures will be shared by your child’s school.
Thank you for your patience, resilience, and continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Kim Dillon
Director of Schools
