Overton County Schools Director Kim Dillon, SPED Supervisor Amanda Masters, high school SPED teacher Ashley Copeland, and high school counselor Missy Trent recently attended a Rotary Club meeting featuring guest speaker Dr. Ed Beason from Tennessee Tech. The focus of the presentation: ensuring a smooth and supportive transition for students with accommodations as they move into postsecondary education.
Dr. Beason shared valuable insights on how colleges and universities approach accessibility, the differences between high school and college support systems, and the importance of self-advocacy for students with disabilities. His message emphasized collaboration between educators, families, and institutions to empower students for success beyond graduation.
👏 We’re proud to see our OCS team actively engaging with community partners and higher education leaders to strengthen pathways for all students. Their commitment to lifelong learning and inclusive practices continues to make a meaningful impact.
