HES Students Get Moving with Math

Hilham students participated in a relay race using the newly purchased coordinate plane mat. Students were placed into two (teacher determined) teams. Students then raced to the coordinate plane mat and placed the teacher made label on the coordinate plane mat. Students enjoyed racing back to their team to tag the hand of the next teammate. The first team to finish the relay and have the coordinate mat labeled correctly wins the game. {Labels: origin, X axis, Y axis, Quadrant I, Quadrant II, Quadrant III, Quadrant IV}.

Younger students participated in a relay race using the 100’s grid mat. Students were placed into two (teacher determined) teams. Students raced to the 100’s grid mat and placed the teacher made card on the correct product. The students were engaged with multiplication and division problem-solving strategies throughout the game. Students raced to the mat to solve the problem then back to tag a teammate to solve the next.
