  The Livingston Academy Work-Based Learning (WBL) Program offers the opportunity for students to gain hands-on “21st century” workplace skills and to test their academic knowledge in the real world. The WBL program has been designed to promote students’ success in both postsecondary education and careers.
  
  This program centers on engagement from community businesses and industry to provide authentic learning experiences for students. WBL offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on workplace skills, and to apply their academic knowledge in the real world. The program has been designed to promote students’ success in both postsecondary education and careers.
  The program consists of (1) students interning on the job while working towards the attainment of employability skills/standards that are agreed upon by the State of Tennessee, and (2) students attending class to obtain employability skills not learned on the job. Most interns are on the job five days per week. The instructor is highly involved, visiting the worksite at least twice per month to ensure that the student is progressing.
